This border will give your project some perspective.
Your project should look like this when you finished the border blocks.
This month's block has two options: the one a pointy Dresden Plate, and the other with rounded petals. By using a quarter or half a plate, the designs form a great border.
The blocks are placed on half a 8 inch square or in the case of the corners, a quarter square triangle.
- Step one will be to cut 4 squares, 8 7/8" or (9 inch for safety).
- Draw a line diagonally on every block
- Sew a "stay stitch" 1/4" on both sides of the diagonal line to control the bias edge
- Motif:
- Make a choice of template: pointed or rounded or a combination of the two.
- Use the pattern to cut the plate petals.
- For the pointed petals, fold the petals in the length. and sew a 1/4" seam across the point,
- trim the corner and turn the motif right side out,
- Pair the motifs and sew one side seam.
- Press the seams, clock wise.
- Pair two sections and sew the seam.
- Repeat to complete the motif.
- Place the motif on the background fabric,
- Applique in place. Needle turn the rounded petals in place.
If, you find it difficult to line up or join neatly, you can appliqué a half circle or quarter circle in place to cover it.
